Royal-Pedic All Cotton Mattress

Royal-Pedic's traditional 8 1/2"- 9" thick, hand tufted mattress is orthopedic firm in its support, and is considered our firmest mattress when used without one of the 3", 4" or 5" pillowtop pads. Over all mattress height to the floor on our 8" thick box spring, and 7" metal frame is about 23" - 23 1/2" (optional pillowtop pads will increase overall height).

  • The Royal-Pedic All Cotton Mattress features their double heat tempered, Royal-Flex® 704i Innerspring System designed in Switzerland. The innerspring unit contains 85% more coils than is standard. The coils in the mattress are open ended, unknotted, six turn coils providing more flexibility, which means greater sensitivity to body contours, overall body support and relaxation.
  • The skilled craftsmen hand layer the staple cotton padding on each side of the innerspring unit to ensure a consistent, supportive sleeping surface. Over 50 pounds of pre-compressed staple cotton go into making a king size Royal-Pedic All Cotton Mattress! No polyurethane foam padding is in the mattress, so you have lasting support for your body and a healthier sleeping environment.
  • The inner cotton padding is encased in their luxurious Belgian 100% cotton ticking, which ventilates body heat. Unlike polyester fabrics found on many brands of mattresses, the cotton ticking is non slippery, keeping the pillowtop pads in place to help prevent shifting.
  • The mattress is hand tufted the old fashioned way with European tufting straps to further pre-compress the cotton padding for orthopedic back support. They do not use buttons to tuft our mattresses because buttons have a tendency to turn on their side creating an uncomfortable sleeping surface.
  • T-Spring Side Supports are installed around the perimeter of the spring system to provide edge firmness and support.

Royal-Pedic Double Diamond Box Spring construction is the finest available. They provide 22% more coils than is standard for extra support and durability, and have 50% more coils located in the center-third of the box spring to support the body better (over 60% of our body weight is located in our torso area). The thickness of these coil wires is an extra heavy duty 8 3/4 gauge compared to the standard 9 ½ - 10 gauge wire. Even their box spring contains a layer of staple cotton padding for added support for the underside of the mattress. Brass corner guards are installed on all corners, rather than the plastic ones that break off easily, and heavy duty cotton fabric is used on the underside of the box spring, instead of the thin synthetic sheeting that commonly droops and frays easily. You will only get the best with Royal-Pedic!

We recommend one of our mattress protectors to keep your mattress the cleanest possible!

The founder of Royal-Pedic, Abe Kaplan learned and mastered high end mattress making during the 1930's to the mid 1940's at the prestigious Heals of London, a 300 year old manufacturer of mattresses of England's Royal Family and other dignitaries. In 1946, Kaplan set out for America in search of a region suited for high-end, exquisite quality, handcrafted mattresses. Shortly after settling in Los Angeles, Kaplan's mattress business began to blossom.

Royal-Pedic mattresses soon became the premier choice for many Los Angeles based interior design firms. Most notably, the team of architect Paul Williams and interior designer, Marti Brent, whose clients included many of Hollywood's most recognizable film actors and actresses. For the nearly four decades that Abe and his partner Steve owned Royal-Pedic they manufactured mattresses for innumerable clients, including an endless list of film celebrities, and six U.S. presidents, including John F. Kennedy, who insisted on Royal-Pedic mattresses wherever he traveled.

In 1984, Royal-Pedic was purchased by the Kelemen family, who to this day, diligently continue the tradition of high standards of hand crafted quality and use of the finest natural materials in mattress making. In addition, Royal-Pedic has expanded it's offering of mattresses to include natural latex mattresses, pillowtop mattresses, pillowtop pads, and organic cotton mattresses so customers have a variety of comfort levels and preferences to choose from.

Ronald Reagan's favorite was a custom ( 84" x 84") size that has since been requested by many. Although, the largest mattress we ever made was for the legendary basketball star, Wilt Chamberlain. It was our Royal-Pedic All Cotton Mattress in a 10' long x 10' long! It took 8 men to deliver the mattress. Wilt said that if it didn't fit through the doorway to take it away. Fortunately it fit through his custom-size-d front double door.

Royal-Pedic's on going commitment to its customers assures them of absolutely of the finest mattresses they can own.
